1. I voted for Nader. I was not one of those people who swooned over Gore. I still have major issues with that man. Nader wasn't a great option, but it was better than authorizing either party that year.
2. I voted for Kerry, and I was sincerely upset that he didn't win. My mother wore her Kerry pin up until the day of her surgery. I never had the heart to tell her he lost.
3. "Better off" is a difficult phrase for me to embrace because it's all relative. I wouldn't really say better or worse...just different. And I don't know how much of that difference can be attributed to the government or to my own good/bad choices.
Eight years ago, I was two months into being 22. I had just graduated from Regis. That year, I went into a tailspin--decided not to go to grad school for primatology(I had a prestigious scholarship, but writing was pulling on me), decided to quit writing (I couldn't do that because it wasn't stable). The January before I graduated, I got a part-time job in the recruiting field. It paid nothing, but it worked with my school schedule and I quickly became a star. I had fun there, but ultimately became more and more miserable due to the nature of recruiting. Still, I floated on to other recruiting jobs. Do I regret it? Sometimes. But mostly, no. I met some wonderful people and found a place for myself for a while. Maybe, I can blame the government for some of the working conditions. But other than that? I'm really to blame.
Four years ago, my life was totally different. A lot of the bad stuff that has come since that time is directly related to my mother dying. I couldn't continue being self-employed and take care of my mother. So, I had to find stable, part-time employment and made bad choices about employers. I was never able to go back to what I was doing. The only thing I really feel bitter about--in terms of the government--and something Obama has spoken about--was the financial devastation that happened due to my mother's illness. I was bankrupted by it, and I learned a lot about fighting with insurance companies. My mother had "good" insurance, too. Financially, though, I am still recovering from that time frame. Your loved one's health should never come down to personal finances.

Just checking in to see if you have any republican readers :) ha ha.
I love Alma's answers.
But to answer your questions...I didn't vote for Bush, but yes, I am VERY sorry he won.
My life is better now, only because I am more comfortable in my own skin, but it is nothing that can ever be attributed to Bushy.
