Women who do this are selfish, evil bitches. And that's putting it mildly and politely.
It happens more than you think.
Trust me.
[Update]
I wanted to add a few more thoughts.
It may be considered 'old-fashioned' but to my way of thinking the ONLY way to approach having a child is when it's a thought-out and agreed upon step by two mature adults in a loving, committed relationship.
Otherwise, don't do it. Because when all is said and done, it is the child that will have to suffer for the actions of the selfish parent...in this case, the mother.
here's the serve... aaannd, one point to abstinence!
I do agree though, that's pretty rude.

I thinking the "c" word is not entirely out of order here.

It is unfortunate because I know plenty who wouldn't. I have heard of it happening though...sad, sad, sad

Very common, I think. On the reverse side, I know several woman who married JUST to have a baby. The question is, which is worse?

Well said, Kath. If women want a voice in controlling their lives, they should support the same for men.

Gabe- excellent point...maybe not always realistic, tho.
Rosie- you know my thoughts on this isssue all too well :-)
KOBW- nah, the c word is still too nice.
HC- I know several friends - male- that have had this happen to them. They are too trusting when the girl says 'don't worry, I'm safe'.
Hubs- know what? you're right!
CB- it is definitely worse to trap someone into forced fatherhood than marrying someone just to have a baby. Forced fatherhood ends up costing close to $250,000 over 18 years, minimum. Plus, it's a choice that was made for them. At least if you marry someone just to procreate, you're walking into it with open eyes...maybe hormonal open eyes, but it is an active choice they make.
WD- Totally

The more I see and more I hear about this happening, the more I wish that it was mandatory for all babies to be sterilized at birth and the only way you can have the procedure reversed is to be in a stable & committed relationship, spend a 'practice month' with a cranky newborn with colic that screams 24/7 for the entire month, and take a 6 month parenting class.
Way too strict and not realistic in the least, even tho it would make for better parents in the long run

Right, what about an issue of a females whose first child was with someone she cheated on her boyfriend with, her second one was with someone who was cheating on his wife with, and her third one is with someone who had a drunken fling with. She says she is having the abortion, then she changes her mind because she says shes having the baby because she will never be lonely
